Here at Chez Callahan, we once again have no electric.  It was off for a while between 6 & 7 this morning, and has now been out since just before 10, having tried to come back on 3-4 times, and blown the transformer again each of those.

Woke up from my nap just after noon. Called in, found out there was power here in Dearborn again.

Got dressed, got in the car, ate lunch while zipping down the freeway.

It's quiet here - only about half the people who are supposed to be here actually are.

I was kind of hoping that the power would still be out. Ah well. At least I got my nap.

Well, my network seems to be back on now - sometime in the last 2 hours, the DNS records here at work finally updated. So, about 66 hours of down time, plus or minus - depending on your server ( Read more... )

Well, I'm still without e-mail, which means that Barry's 3+ hours of work last night, and the $150 modem, were all for nothing.

I've realized this is getting to be expensive....and that small claims court is cheap.

Costs so far:

• first missed appointment - 5 hours
• phone calls about missed appointment - 2.5 hours

I'm tired. Really, really tired. The last week or so, I've generally gone to bed later than I should have, trying to get things sorted out after the blackout. But I end up waking up more tired than I was when I went to bed ( Read more... )

I'm alive! No power at the house yet, except that provided by the generator Barry drove to Ohio to retrieve. And I'm visiting a friend in Indiana. But that's ok - there's electricity and hot water and A/C at the hotel here :-)
